Pincushion Summer Swap is ready

Last weekend I spent my time with my lil girl at the hospital bed. So no sewing, no updates.

Any way I received an email from Sandra! It is a deal that I should not reveal my swap partner until she has received the items from me. Tonight I sewn a special pin cushion for her. I hope she gonna love it.

Next week I need to go out to local craft shop and look for some embellishments that she won't found at her place!

p.s. Thanks a lot to Sandra for hosting this swap (despite of her busy schedule)! I can't wait to receive my swap items too!

A simple Mary Jane's shoes is ready

Pattern was bought from Etsy last month (read here). But since I could not find steam-a-seam-fusible at my local craft-store, only this month I am able to sew this sweet pair of shoes (without the double fusible web any way).

I only able to get a single lining web. So the process took longer due to seam-secure stitches that I have to make along the ends. It is hard to capture on my phone camera but I hope you get what I mean.

The above picture shows open seams.

This one show secured-seams after some blanket-stitched technique.

Sunday Stash #2

I recently went to local fabric stores and they were on SALES!

Me end up with cotton flannels (blue sports prints & pink flower prints) at RM3.90/meter each. (I make this with the pink one). And six light weight cottons (blue stripes, plain white & black, & three pinkish with flower prints). Those range between RM4 - RM20 per meter. The last one is expensive & very light, I am thinking of sewing a dress for my lil-princess.

I am not happy because I can't find any local stores selling quilting fabric yet. When I bought through online I usually end up paying double (half for the shipping) :(

Some friends told me to buy from our capital city which is 7 hours drive from my place. Perhaps one day.

My 1st sewing corner

I was sewing in my bedroom before, and it was a bit messy when I cut fabrics.. ah you know what I mean, when frays are flying around... before 'he' makes any comment, I better make a move to a proper corner.

For the past 2 days I forced myself (real hard) to get my corner ready. I've been eying this spot ever since I fall in love in sewing.

The above pictures show how I would like my sewing corner to be... with a Bernina perhaps.

But I am not yet there, the following pictures tell about my 1st sewing corner in details ...

I make the old tv rack as my cutting table and its compartment to place my fabric stash. As the pictures also showing a lil-sewer (who also a fan of my sewing), I place his table next to my cutting table.

So that is it for now, it will remain this way until I bought myself a sewing machine then I will have to re-arrange the corner with some proper furniture.

Sunday Stash #1

This is a fabric for sarung (Malay traditional skirt, lower garment). Made from 100% cotton with floral prints also known as batek motifs. The length of fabric about a yard wide and two-and-a-half yards long.

This kind of fabric usually comes with 2 background/type of prints. The brownish part is meant to be the back of the skirt. And the yellow is for the front. Wiki document about sarung here.

Any way, I am not going to make any skirt but something else.. Check up again for more updates ^_^
